Miss Jr. National Teenager 2005

Jena Sims of Winder, Georgia took home top honors when she was crowned the 2005 America’s Miss National Junior Teenager on Aug. 7 in Nashville, Tenn.

State pageant winners from all over the nation came to compete in the America’s National Teenager Scholarship Pageant to showcase their talents and achievements. Sims received a $5,000 scholarship. She would like to attend the University of Georgia upon high school graduation to pursue a degree in marketing.

Sims, 15, is a sophomore at Winder Barrow High School, where she is actively involved in various clubs and organizations. She is a member of the Student Council, Beta Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Sims is a dedicated volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She has captained more than 25 fund-raisers, raising more than $41,000 for the organization. She was awarded the 2003 Prudential Spirit of Community Georgia Volunteer of the Year Award for her work.

In her spare time, Sims enjoys cheerleading and dancing.

“I met a lot of great girls and made lifelong friends,” said Sims of her week in Nashville. “The experience has been incredible, and winning the title of America’s Miss National Junior Teenager is truly an honor.”

America’s National Teenager Scholarship Organization was founded in 1970 to recognize outstanding young women throughout the country and help them reach their educational goals. The pageant system has awarded more than $120 million in tuition, grants and cash scholarships in its 35-year existence.
